Authorities in Jonglei State have launched an investigation into a deadly clash between the Patuit and Angakwe tribes in Bedi Tpayan, Bor County on Monday that left four people dead.
The new Jonglei state police commissioner, Major General John Bake, confirmed that both clans had lost two members in the clashes.
“When the information reached the police, we immediately dispatched officers to the spot and brought the situation under control,” he reported.
The clash took place in a fishing area but the reasons behind the clash were not clear. General Bak said four suspects had been arrested and called on the conflicting tribes to remain calm while investigations continued.
“We have arrested four suspects in connection with the clashes and are continuing to look for the root causes of the fighting,” he added.
General Bak said police were conducting in-depth investigations into the causes that led to the tragic incident and were working to restore peace and order in the area.
