Russian President Vladimir Putin has changed the resort tax and signed a law to impose a tourism tax starting in 2025.
Oxu.Az reported that the document has been published on the Russian Legal Information Portal.
The tourist tax will be a local tax, the necessity and rate of which will be determined independently by each municipality. The tax will be paid into the budget according to the location of the hotel.
Certain categories of citizens are exempt from tax calculations.
It is planned to gradually increase the tax rate – starting from 1% of the minimum living standard in 2025 and increasing by 1% each year until 2029 (and not exceeding 5% from 2029).
