ROSSOUGH, Mauritania, 5th July, 2024 (WAM) – At least 89 migrants died when a migrant boat capsized off the coast of Mauritania on Monday, the Mauritania News Agency reported on Thursday.
Mauritanian coast guard officials found the bodies of the migrants on board a large traditional fishing boat that had capsized. Nine people were rescued, including a five-year-old girl.
The boat left the Gambia-Senegal border six days ago, heading for Europe, with at least 170 migrants on board.
