The Academy of Sports Excellence (Aspire) held a ten-day table tennis camp.
The camp included players from Sweden, India and Croatia, as well as four student athletes from Aspire Academy and two players selected by the Qatar Table Tennis Federation.
The camp was led by Aspire Academy table tennis head coach, Swedish international and former European champion Peter Carlsson, and assisted by Aspire Academy head coach Yakov Krevich.
The camp is a preparation period for Aspire and Qatar table tennis team players to participate in the West Asian competition, which will start in Jordan on August 26 and last for five days.
Besides the young players, there were guest coaches from India and Croatia, Josip Jerkovic, who is part of the Croatian national team coaching staff and oversees the development of two seven-year-olds, and he was very happy to be here. Aspire Academy expressed admiration for the facilities and the support of the team, such as the fitness specialists and equipment staff who work with the head coach.
In his statement, Yekovich praised the great experience his team gained during this camp, as well as playing and training with a wide variety of competitors.
He explained that it is very important to participate in this type of camp in order to compete with players from different schools, in addition to having the opportunity to learn from coach Peter Carlson, one of the most important champions of the competition in the past, in addition to the wonderful atmosphere of the academy.
Isaac Alfredsson, one of the Swedish players, said that he has been training mentally during the training camp, and facing players from all over the world, it is important to have multiple matches with different players. It is good for training.
