The High Court has granted bail to Emosi Tikoichina, who was suspected of setting fire to the Navuso Agricultural Technical College in Navuso, Nausori County.
This afternoon, High Court Justice Thushara Rajasinghe heard the case.
Justice Rajasinghe was very strict in imposing bail conditions on the accused.
He was ordered not to interfere with prosecution witnesses and not to commit another crime while on bail.
Tikoichina was also ordered not to attend technical college.
State counsel Zenith Zunaid told the court that the accused had confessed his guilt to his friend, who is also a student of the college.
The defendant pleaded not guilty in May.
Tikoichina was charged with one count of arson, contrary to section 362(a) of the Criminal Code 2009.
It is alleged that on April 7, 2024, Tikoichina deliberately and illegally set fire to the Navuso Agricultural Technical College building and its assets in Nausori, Eastern Region.
The matter has been adjourned to September 30 for consideration.
