The current former member of the party La Libertad Avanza led by President Javier Milei is under investigation within the framework of an international network for the production and dissemination of child sexual abuse material.
Police in the Corrientes province of Argentina have captured Germán Kiczka, a provincial councillor from Misiones, who had been on the run since August 22 and is accused of possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material.
Kitzka, a member of the far-right Freedom and Liberal Party, faces multiple charges related to the production and distribution of child pornography, which was uncovered during Operation Child Digital Guardian.
The arrest took place in the town of Loreto, near the border with Misiones province, and the Corrientes Security Department confirmed that he is expected to be handed over to mission authorities soon.
The action came after days of intense searching and the issuance of an Interpol red alert for the suspect, who was suspected of fleeing to a neighbouring country.
The investigation was launched following a complaint by the NGO ICMEC and revealed international links in Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay.
The Misiones State House of Representatives recently approved the lifting of Herman Kitzka’s immunity, allowing him to be arrested and tried on these serious charges.
