Iran
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has vowed to impose the “harshest punishment” on Israel, which is accused of assassinating Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
“Through this action, the Zionist criminal and terrorist regime has brought upon itself the most severe punishment… We consider it our duty to avenge the blood of Haniyeh that fell on the land of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Khamenei said in a statement carried by the official Iranian news agency IRNA.
United Arab Emirates
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “The UAE is closely following the rapid developments in the region and is deeply concerned about the continued escalation of the situation and its impact on security and stability in the region. The UAE also stressed the need to exercise maximum self-restraint and wisdom to avoid risks and expand the conflict.”
Egypt
Egypt’s Foreign Ministry condemned “Israel’s dangerous escalatory policy over the past two days,” arguing that this “dangerous escalation warns of the risk of provoking a confrontation in the region, leading to dire security consequences,” but did not mention Ismail Haniyeh or Hezbollah by name.
Algeria
“We strongly condemn this treacherous and heinous terrorist act carried out by the Zionist occupation forces. It continues to be indifferent and refuses to recognize the simplest humanitarian, legal, political and moral rules and controls,” said Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf.
USA
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed on Wednesday that the United States had “no hand in” the assassination of Hamas politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
“First of all, we had no knowledge and no involvement,” he said in a television interview, excerpts of which were released by his office.
Türkiye
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned the “dangerous assassination” of Haniyeh. “May God have mercy on my brother Ismail Haniyeh, who was martyred by this heinous attack,” Erdogan wrote on the X-platform, condemning what he called “Zionist barbarism.”

Iraq condemns assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs saying in a statement: “The Government of the Republic of Iraq condemns in the strongest terms the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, Chairman of the Political Bureau of the Hamas movement, in the Iranian capital of Tehran.” He added that the Iraqi government “confirms that this aggressive act is a blatant violation of international law and a threat to security and stability in the region.”
Sultanate of Oman
Oman’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement on its website condemning Haniyeh’s assassination in Tehran.

Russia condemned the “unacceptable political assassination” of the head of the Islamic Resistance Movement’s Political Bureau. “This is a completely unacceptable political assassination that will lead to a further escalation of tensions,” Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov told the official RIA Novosti news agency.
China
China on Wednesday condemned the “assassination” of Hamas’s politburo chief, warning it could lead to “greater instability in the region.”
