Apple disables X ‘apps’ on Mac computers

Apple has disabled the X application (formerly known as Twitter) from the official app store for Mac computers, but the service remains available on computers where the application was already downloaded.

Users of these devices manufactured by Apple have commented that when searching for the social networking “app” for these devices in the App Store, the link to the app is disabled and will not finish loading.

Europa Press was also able to verify this block, but it does not prevent users who have downloaded the application on their computers from using the application, as shared by others on X.

However, others through forums such as Reddit have suggested not to download the X for iOS version on Mac as an alternative to this block, as the app will suspend its services when you log in.

Since Elon Musk took over the platform and rebranded it, X for Mac has retained its previous name Twitter. As TechCrunch recalls, this means it hasn’t received an update in a year.

At present, Apple has not commented on the reason for the blockage and has kept the download page of the app active through its official store for iOS and iPadOS devices.
