The North Ossetian Muftiat suggested refusing to wear the veil.
How it is communicated Vesti.azThis was reported by Deputy Mufti of the Republic Ibrahim Zagurov, TASS reported.
Zagurov noted that the spiritual management of Muslims in the republic on this issue is guided by the resolution adopted by the Coordination Center of Muslims of the North Caucasus. At the same time, he clarified that under the current law on freedom of conscience and religious associations, a blanket ban on the veil is not possible, so this is a recommendation.
Discussions on the veil (a traditional Muslim headdress for women that covers the face and has a narrow slit for the eyes) began in June at the initiative of social activists, State Duma deputies and security officials, including the Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin. They demanded a ban for reasons of public safety, citing the example of other countries where Islam is widely spread, such as Uzbekistan.
On July 5, the Russian Muslim Spiritual Assembly supported the ban on veils. The statement stressed that veils are not mandatory headwear for Russian Muslim women, and wearing veils is considered impermissible under modern conditions.
Earlier, the Mufti of Dagestan said that people wearing veils scare others.
