Amit Shah announces plan to connect all 8 northeastern state capitals by air

Shah, who arrived in Mizoram on Saturday (April 1), announced plans to connect all eight state capitals in the northeast region by air, rail and road by 2025. Speaking during his visit to Mizoram, Shah hailed the state’s success as a model of Indian democracy and said the appointment of Zoramthanga as chief minister was a testament to peace and stability in the region.

“By 2025, all eight state capitals of the northeast region will be connected by air, rail and road,” Shah said.

There was a time when there was unrest and violence here but today Zoramthanga is the Chief Minister of Mizoram, which is a great example of democracy in India. Today, there is peace here. I call on all armed groups in the Northeast to join the mainstream, be part of the democratic process and contribute to the development of the region and the country,” he further said.

Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several infrastructure projects worth Rs 24,150 crore in Aizawl. The projects include the construction of the Assam Rifles Battalion Headquarters Building at Zokhawsang and an Integrated Command and Control Centre under Smart City Ltd (ASCL). The construction of Zorinpui-Longmasu NH-502A, Aizawl Bypass (Package-1) NH-6, Aizawl Bypass (Package-3) NH-6 and Laldenga Centre are also part of these projects.
