The ousted Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Tony Okocha, has accused former Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, of plotting to hijack the party in the state.

He spoke to journalists in Abuja on Friday in response to the August 15 court judgment disbanding his committee.

A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has dissolved the seven-member caretaker committee of the APC headed by Okocha while reinstating Emeka Baker as the APC chairman.

Baker is a big fan of former Governor Amaechi.

Okocha, however, vowed not to allow Amaechi and his lackey, Emeka Baker, to play his hand on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027

Reacting to this, Okocha said: “We can imagine how a person with low education can preside over a meeting that some of us would attend, but the APC leaders are saying they want someone with the mentality of a street kid.

“But the fact is, he wanted a proxy, a puppet who would do his bidding. We fought but the APC leader, who was then a minister, and whose legacy still existed, became the leader of the party.

“Baker led a delegation of 56 Rivers to vote for Rotimi Amaechi in the APC presidential primary. With that, they got 56 votes in the state.

“They are intent on abandoning Amaechi and then he (Amaechi) becomes the leader of APC and uses APC to fight against the president in 2027. We will never allow this to happen.”
