Commenting on the award, Philip Thomas, Chairman of Dubai Lynx, said: “We are delighted to be able to bestow such an honour on Ali Rez this year. He is a true pioneer in the region and has made an incredible commitment to strengthening the region’s global position in producing the best creative work. We are delighted to recognise Ali’s important contribution and can’t wait to see what he does next. »
Named Campaign Magazine’s Creative Person of the Year three times, Ali Rez is the Middle East’s most awarded creative leader and currently leads IMPACT BBDO Group’s production work across the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan. Under Rez’s creative leadership, Impact BBDO became the first MEA agency to be ranked in the top 10 globally in both the WARC and World Creative rankings in the same year, while winning 29 #1 Best Regional Agency awards in 2022 and 2023. His work helped put the UAE in the top 10 of the Cannes Lions Creative Countries Rankings.
Over 20 years, Rez has won nearly a thousand international accolades in a career that spans four continents, including winning the Grand Prix at every major competition. He has won 23 Grand Prix at Dubai Lynx alone and a further two at Cannes Lions. In 2023, he became the first Jury President to represent the Middle East in the 70-year history of Cannes Lions. With an ambition to put the UAE at the top of the creative rankings, Rez has brought many firsts to the region, such as the first One Show Best Subject Pencil Award and the first Andy Bravery Best of Show Award. However, the award he is most proud of is winning the Glass: Change Award at three different Lions festivals: Spikes Asia, Dubai Lynx and Cannes Lions.
Accepting the award, Ali Rez, Creative Director for Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan at IMPACT BBDO Group, said: “What an incredible honour. Honestly, this award should be called Advertiser of the Year as it has to include the best team in the world, who I’m lucky enough to work with and I wouldn’t be here without them. I’m also very grateful to generous leaders like Dani Richa and David Lubars who have helped get me to this point. Huge compliments to Dubai Lynx for all they are doing to amplify creativity in the region. »
Ian Fells, Vice Chairman of Dubai Lynx, added: “Ali has played a major role in promoting the region’s creative industries and elevating the UAE’s overall status, which is reflected in his impressive body of work, which has enabled him to be ranked number one in the ECD in multiple creative rankings in the MENA and APAC regions. We look forward to honouring him at the awards ceremony in March. »
The awards ceremony for the 2024 Dubai Lynx Advertising Person of the Year Outstanding Contribution Award will be held at the ceremony.
