Alajuelense takes a solid step towards the final by defeating Saprissa FF at Colleya Fonseca

In the first leg of the semi-final, Alajuelense beat Saprissa 1-3 thanks to a comeback. It was a rainy day women’s classic, but very entertaining and full of emotion.

The match kept the suspense alive for the raucous fans present at the Estadio Colaia Fonseca, the Purple Club’s temporary home in the final moments, as the Cuevas are in the pre-season phase for next term.

Before the purple goal, Alyssa Lindor had already sounded the alarm, beating Gabriella Guillen on pace. His new move down the left wing also opened up the door for the team to score. The 15-year-old winger’s speed was lethal, and Carolina Venegas headed in the goal to end the game with a goal.

The first ten minutes belonged to the league, but when Era Managed to level the action, and the score dropped significantly. The players who scored the purple goal celebrated the goal, but most also congratulated Lindor.

In the stands, the Saprisista fans shouted the goal from the bottom of their hearts as these girls were fearless in their match against the six-time national champions.

But the Union showed full confidence in its lionesses, who had no intention of leaving Guadeloupe with anything but victory.

Kenia Rangel crossed from the right to tie the game, and Ángela Mesén hit the ball straight, which deflected and Sheika Scott scored, sending the ball into the back of the goal defended by Priscilla Tapia.

When the score was tied at 1-1, it was clear the game would not go on like this. Noelia Bermudez dived to deflect a shot from Maria Paula Elizondo, but soon after, tournament top scorer Angela Mason scored to put Alajuelense back on top.

There was more to come as Kenia Rangel scored the third goal for the Rossoneri late in the game.

This is the third Women’s Classic title for Alajuelense and Saprissa FF in the Apertura 2024. It is also the third victory led by Wílmer López.

Even so, the red and black sides do not take anything for granted. The gangs hope to prolong their dictatorship over women’s football, but they are doing it step by step.

The second leg of the semi-final will be held at the Alejandro Moreira Soto Stadium on Sunday, June 23, at 4 pm. The name of the second final team will appear there, as the name of the first final team will be announced the night before, in the series, Sporting Lisbon defeated Dimas Escazú 3-2.
