Aktobe: Trial of a teenager who died in beating at sports boarding school begins

Many people who came to attend the first trial from both the victim and defendant side were unable to enter the hall. The defendant’s lawyer claimed that he was a minor and asked to end the proceedings. The judge also approved it. Now, two students of the sports boarding school named after Esset Battelle have been found guilty and are being questioned.

Beksultan Abubakir, who died, was a master of freestyle wrestling. Like his twin, he was in the eighth grade at a boarding school. At the end of the school year, senior students lined up ten eighth graders in a room and beat them. Beksultan died from the intense beatings.

Even before the tragedy, children said bullying had become a norm at the sports school. After the student’s death, the director of the regional sports bureau, the dean of the boarding school and his deputies were severely reprimanded. Four coaches resigned at their request. Beksudan’s mother is angry that representatives and leaders of educational institutions have not been punished.
