Reuters quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that artificial intelligence (AI) chip giant Nvidia is developing a new flagship artificial intelligence (AI) chip for the Chinese market that is compatible with current U.S. export control regulations.
Nvidia will reportedly work with Inspur, one of its main distribution partners in China, to jointly launch and distribute the chip, tentatively named B20.
Nvidia has developed three chips specifically for the Chinese market since the United States tightened controls on exports of cutting-edge semiconductors to China last year to prevent supercomputing breakthroughs and help the Chinese military.
