Meta, the parent company of Facebook (fb) and Instagram (Ig), has launched a new generation of artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm model Llama 3.1. The company’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the new AI model can compete with OpenAI’s chatbot ChatGPT.
Meta launched Llama 3 in April to improve the response capabilities of its chatbot Meta AI, and released version 3.1 three months later, reflecting the rapid update speed of the AI algorithm model and the deep cooperation between Meta and AI chip giant Nvidia.
In an interview with foreign media, Zuckerberg revealed that the company is developing Llama 4.
Meta pointed out that Llama 3.1 has three different versions, one of which has the company’s most powerful calculation capabilities to date.
