IDC, an international data company, released the latest “Evaluation of Mainstream Products in China’s Large Model Market 2024”, which measured 16 mainstream products from 11 large model manufacturers in seven dimensions, from basic capabilities to application capabilities. The results were obtained by Baidu (09888) ranked first and is the only company rated as an advantageous manufacturer in all seven dimensions.

Wenxin Yiyan takes the lead in seven dimensions

As for other manufacturers, Alibaba (09988) achieved 6 advantages, OpenAI GPT-4 and SenseTime (00020) will receive 5 items respectively.

The evaluation results show that Baidu’s generative AI products Wenxin Yiyan and Wenxin Yige have leading advantages in seven dimensions, including basic capabilities in question and answer comprehension, reasoning, creative expression, mathematics, and coding, as well as application capabilities in toC general scenarios and toB specific industries.

In terms of testing methods, IDC established a product testing team to evaluate the basic large model and related products through multiple dimensions, and invited an external expert team to conduct in-depth analysis of the accuracy and rationality of each product’s answers. Under the supervision of the review committee, the evaluation results of each manufacturer were finally obtained.

Other manufacturers included in this assessment include iFlytek (002230.SZ), Baichuan, Zhipu, and Kunlun Wanwei (300418.SZ), etc.

IDC believes that starting from the second quarter of this year, the Chinese market will usher in a wave of updates and upgrades to basic large models and products. A new round of “Hundred Model Wars” is about to begin. The industry is more concerned about the implementation of large models and generative AI. Therefore, technology suppliers must continuously improve generation quality, increase generation speed, and reduce usage costs to accelerate the application and popularization of large model technology.

IDC believes that Baidu Wenxin’s big model occupies an important position in this competition due to its comprehensive advantages and wide-ranging industrial implementation scale.
