“A number of malicious websites and unofficial code were put online to help entities recover from the widespread disruption caused by the CrowdStrike technology incident,” the Australian Signals Directorate said.
The company added on its website that its Cybersecurity Center “strongly encourages all consumers to obtain technical information and updates only from official CrowdStrike sources.”
Australia’s Minister for Cyber Security Claire O’Neill called on Australians on the X platform to “be alert to potential scams and phishing attempts”.
Australia’s largest bank, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, was hit by the outage and said some customers were unable to transfer money.
Qantas and Sydney Airport said flights were delayed but operations were continuing.
CrowdStrike is a major cybersecurity provider with nearly 30,000 subscribers worldwide.
