On August 4, 2024, Mali officially announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Ukraine. The decision also came after the Ukrainian ambassador to Dakar was summoned by the Senegalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who raised tensions by sharing a video on social networks supporting the terrorist attacks in northern Mali.
