French theater and film actor and film director Alain Delon has died at the age of 88. AFP published a statement from the actor’s children.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father. He passed away peacefully at his home in Dushi, surrounded by his family. We kindly ask that you respect his privacy at this extremely painful time,” the statement said.
Alain Delon was born on November 8, 1935 in the southern suburbs of Paris. He began his acting career in 1957 with his debut in the film “When Women Interfere” directed by Yves Allegri. He became famous for the films “Under the Sun” (1960), “Rocco and His Brothers” (1960), “The Leopard” (1963), “The Black Tulip” (1964). Delon’s filmography includes more than 130 projects in total.
Alain Delon has won numerous film awards. These include the French National Cesar Award for Best Actor, the Italian David di Donatello Film Award, the Berlin Film Festival award for his contribution to cinema, and the Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or for his outstanding career.
