Santiago (El Nuevo Diary) – The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, held a meeting with community members and volunteers from the Civil Protection, Red Cross and Fire Departments, saying he will continue to listen to the opinions of each department in order to solve the problems of the people across the country.
“I want to convey the message that we are going to continue to be in touch with people and solve people’s problems. That will continue to be the plan that we will execute on Day One of the new mandate,” he said.
Accompanied by Vice President Raquel Pena, the President expressed his joy and pride in starting his first day working with the department that follows day after day the atmospheric events in the country, according to a press release.
Likewise, the ruler stressed that during his first four years in office he held meetings in every place and listened loudly to the real problems that arose in each province of the Dominican Republic.
He pointed out that big projects were proposed at the meeting and people were expecting several small projects but solving big problems. In addition, he also said that small projects will be carried out through the municipal governments.

The head of state said that public transport works in Santiago are ongoing, noting that the completion of the cable car and the construction of the monorail must be combined according to the transport system and flows.
He also said that sanitization of one part of the Gulabo Gorge has been completed while the other part is yet to be completed.

The president said that during these four years, his aim was to leave an intangible legacy of strengthening democracy through the reforms he would present next Monday.
In this sense, he said, as the reforms are implemented, the aim is to ensure that no one wants to remain in power by locking down the constitution and to create a more independent public sector.

He also said that he intends to leave a material legacy at the infrastructure level, and that Santiago will have a very special stamp because, from 2026, it will be one of the most connected cities in Latin America.
