The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) has signed a deal with Cricket Australia for the audio rights to every match over the next seven Australian summers, and will continue to be the home of cricket until at least 2031.
The agreement will allow the ABC to continue to offer all Australians the opportunity to watch all Test matches, T20 Internationals, One-Day Internationals and the Women’s Super League played in Australia. The new agreement will also see the ABC cover the Men’s Super League for the first time in more than a decade.
Viewers will be able to listen to every match of the summer, starting with the Women’s T20 Internationals in September.
Mike Fitzpatrick, ABC Head of Capital Cities Networks and Sport, said: “We are delighted to continue this historic agreement with Cricket Australia. The ABC is synonymous with cricket, it has always been the soundtrack of the summer and now all Australians can listen to every match across multiple platforms, ad-free.
“This new agreement brings us to 99day (Not yet over) a year of showing cricket on the ABC.”
“We are delighted to be extending and strengthening our audio partnership with the ABC for another seven years as cricket enters an exciting period,” said Kate Ingber, executive general manager of commercial and legal affairs at Cricket Australia.
“Cricket is the sound of summer and we are delighted that the ABC will continue to provide renowned coverage of the sport across its radio and digital platforms, including the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the Women’s and Men’s Ashes and the Big Bash League.
“I would like to thank all ABC colleagues for their strong support for cricket. After the expiration of the agreement, the cooperation between the two parties will be extended to 99 years.”
Viewers will be able to tune in to the games on our local broadcast networks and will be able to follow every pitch of every game on ABC.
