Abbas in front of Turkish Parliament: I will go to Gaza

Hashd Net – Organization

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas announced in a speech to the Turkish parliament on Thursday that he would travel to the Gaza Strip with “all members of the Palestinian leadership” to call for “ensuring our access to the Gaza Strip.”

According to a report published by the Palestinian Wafa News Agency, Abbas spoke in Arabic and also invited world leaders and the UN Secretary-General to visit Gaza.

Abbas will visit Turkey after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Tuesday. He met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Wednesday to discuss a ceasefire and peace in Gaza, AFP reported.

Doha talks

Gaza ceasefire talks kicked off in Doha earlier on Thursday, with a somewhat pessimistic atmosphere.

Reuters reported that a well-informed official confirmed that negotiations began on Thursday afternoon in the Qatari capital to reach a ceasefire in the besieged Palestinian strip and a deal with Hamas to release Israeli and Palestinian prisoners.

The gap is still big

Israeli sources said the talks could last two days, especially given that the differences remain large.

It was also revealed that the Israeli delegation attending the meeting included David Banea, head of the Mossad, Ronan Bar, director of the Israeli General Security Service, and personnel responsible for intelligence work related to prisoner files, Nitzan Alon, and Ofek Flake, political adviser to the Israeli prime minister, according to Israel’s Channel 12.
