A California woman has been accused of carrying a multitude of weapons, including a sword, a steel whip and a knife, into the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack by a group of Donald Trump supporters, according to court records released Wednesday.

According to an FBI affidavit, when Secret Service (USSS) agents searched Kennedy Lindsay’s backpack, she had a dagger, a steel whip, a foldable baton, tear gas, a butterfly knife and a flashlight with a stun gun.

Lindsay was arrested last month in Los Angeles and charged with disorderly conduct and possession of a dangerous weapon on Capitol grounds.

More than 1,400 people have been charged with federal crimes related to the Capitol riot. Rioters were armed with various types of weapons, including guns, knives and stun guns on January 6. Many used objects such as flagpoles and pieces of office furniture as makeshift weapons during the siege.

Lindsay was charged along with a woman who flew with her from California to Washington, D.C. Lindsay bought tickets for the two after then-President Donald Trump announced a “crazy” protest there on Jan. 6. Lindsay posted on social media that she was going because “our boss asked us to be there.”

Two women rode a golf cart to the Capitol after attending a Trump rally near the White House, where the rally’s slogan was “Stop the Steal.”

“My friends, everybody is storming the building,” Lindsay said in a self-recorded video, according to testimony. “We have to do this as patriots. The Constitution says so.”

According to the FBI, Lindsay entered the Capitol through a broken window while wearing a red hat emblazoned with Trump’s campaign slogan “Let’s Make America Great” and a tactical vest. U.S. Navy agents who approached Lindsay saw a sword strapped to his leg, the affidavit said.

Lindsey was arrested on July 28 and later released.

The attorney who represented her at her initial court appearance did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
