On July 22, 2024, Brigadier General Abdulrahman Tiyani, President of the National Committee for the Protection of the Fatherland, signed an important decree amending Law No. 97-20 of June 20, 1997. The decree established July 26 as a legal holiday dedicated to the annual commemoration of the patriotic action of the Nigerien people to affirm their sovereignty and independence.
