A Russian wanted for selling military supplies tried to enter Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
The criminal suspect LV (born in 1967) was detained as a result of a joint operation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, INTERPOL and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Border Guard Service of the National Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Domestically, he is wanted for suspected crimes under Article 226.1 (Smuggling of weapons, raw materials, materials, equipment, technologies, scientific and technical information that can be used to manufacture weapons or military equipment) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. He has been wanted by Interpol since 2022.
According to available information, the wanted criminals are accused of smuggling military products that are part of automated control systems for ships, as well as controls for missile and artillery weapons, including strategic missile systems.
The issue of extraditing the detainees to their home countries is currently being addressed.
