The arrests came after police conducted a search warrant at the home of Rubens Scutt, 33, and Charra Rolle-Scutt, 26, on McKinney Drive.

Officers allegedly seized two black Barra air rifles, a black and white Crossman air rifle, a Gamo 430 air pistol, a black C2 760 compact air pistol, a Sig Sauer 911 air pistol and two black Austrian pistols.

In addition, police seized 1,000 rounds of .223 ammunition, 200 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 475 rounds of 12-gauge shotgun shells and 500 rounds of .22 ammunition.

Now BP has confirmed this is the second person charged with possessing a dangerous war-type weapon within a highly sensitive government department.

Last year, a former Treasury employee was caught and tracked by police for carrying a dangerous weapon, and the former employee is currently serving a prison sentence.

We believe that there are serious problems with the HR departments of various government agencies and that personnel are not being properly vetted!

For the third time, the Bahamas News Agency calls on the relevant agencies to conduct background checks on these people who are hired to work for the people in this country! You cannot sell weapons and war machines, cause death, carnage and chaos in our streets (kill an ounce of democrats), and then tell me you are working for the people of the Bahamas! It can never happen!

This is the second time a staff member associated with the South Andros MP has fallen foul of the law. Last year, a general in the MP’s office was accused of raping a teenager and leaving him seriously ill!

What kind of censorship is going on here! Censoring these people who come into government offices!

Bail was set at $9,500, and the Scatzes are due back on Dec. 12 to voluntarily answer the indictment.

The couple was also charged with customs violations for allegedly being in possession of firearms and ammunition on which duty had not been paid.

They have pleaded not guilty and will go on trial on October 15.
