Major General Salami said, “Sinwar’s election as Hamas chairman is a matter of great concern to the Zionist enemies and their supporters.”
According to Iranian media, Major General Hossein Salami, commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, sent a letter to Hamas’ newly elected Political Bureau Chairman Yahya Sinwar on Wednesday.
The letter came a day after Sinwar was elected as chairman of Hamas’s political bureau, replacing Ismail Haniyeh, who was assassinated by Israel in Tehran a week ago.
Major General Salami said, “Sinwar’s election as Hamas chairman is a matter of great concern to the enemies of Zionism and their supporters.”
He said this showed that “the flag of resistance and jihad will not fall” and “the pace of resistance will continue.”

In a letter to Sinwar, the head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard stressed that Iran will continue to support Hamas and other resistance factions without any effort.
Hamas announced in a brief statement on Tuesday that “leader Yahya Sinwar has been elected as chairman of the movement’s political bureau, replacing martyred leader Ismail Haniyeh.”
The assassination of Haniyeh put the entire region on alert, with Iran threatening to strike Israel.
Lebanon’s Hezbollah, an ally of Iran and Hamas, also vowed to respond to Haniyeh’s assassination and to avenge the killing of its military commander, Fuad Shoukr, during an Israeli raid on Beirut’s southern suburbs.
