German Interior Minister Nancy Fesser said German security services were on high alert due to tensions in the Middle East.
“We are watching closely how a further escalation will affect the security situation in Germany,” Fesser told regional newspaper Rheinische Post on Thursday.
Feisal said the risk of further escalation in the Middle East was high, calling the situation “extremely dangerous.”
Fesser said the German government and its international partners were working to de-escalate the situation.
“Since the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, and the subsequent war in Gaza, anti-Semitic crimes have increased dramatically,” Feather said.
He added: “Our security authorities are doing everything possible to break the vicious cycle from violence in the Middle East to the even more repugnant anti-Semitism here.”
Fesser also noted that authorities are taking decisive action against Islamist forces, citing the ban on the Hamburg Islamic Center and its branches nationwide in late July.
In addition, he mentioned the previous ban on the Palestinian militant group Hamas and the pro-Palestinian network Samidoun in Germany.
Fesser expressed his “sincere gratitude” to the federal states for their ongoing efforts to protect Jews and Israeli institutions in Germany by deploying strong police forces.
