New Zealand’s manufacturing sector needs urgent help to digitise – and hopefully this and other considerations will be reflected in the Government’s economic growth plan due out soon.

New Zealand’s ratio of robots to workers in manufacturing is one of the lowest in the developed world.

There wasn’t much in the recent budget for the manufacturing sector – which has been plagued by its inability to afford the next generation of automation and productivity gains – but commentators and advocates remain hopeful that the government will roll out more substantial initiatives over the next six years.
