Defending world and Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali wins the final of the 3000m steeplechase in 08:06 at the Stade de France on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, in a track and field event that counts towards the 2024 Olympic Games (2024 Olympic Games), in Paris.

It was a delicate race and the risk of falling had to be managed. An Ethiopian runner also tripped over a hurdle in the final lap.

Despite a strong acceleration from American Kenneth Rooks, Soufiane El Bakkali still used his finishing ability to cross the finish line first.

Bakali became the undisputed master of the event, winning Morocco’s first medal and defending the Olympic title at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
