Alioune Tine on Wednesday supported the Guinean people in their struggle for the release of Fonike Mengue and the restoration of constitutional order

Alioune Tine, president of the African Joum Centre think tank, expressed solidarity with the Guinean people in their struggle, calling in particular for the release of Fonic Menge and the restoration of constitutional order to allow the country to benefit from its rich natural resources.

Guinea, which has suffered from dictatorship and presidential oppression, is the country with the richest mineral resources in West Africa. She has the right to life, physical integrity, fundamental freedoms, development and well-being.

The people of Guinea should make full use of its rich natural resources. The transitional regime must immediately organize democratic and transparent elections to restore constitutional order. It is imperative that Fonik Menge and all political prisoners be immediately released and that all political exiles be allowed to return.

We must express our total solidarity with the Guinean people in their struggle against military dictatorship, against indiscriminate repression and in their struggle to restore constitutional order in Guinea.
