Martha Mukisa has expressed her displeasure at those who criticise her and other women’s body shapes.

Through her social media posts, she touched on the challenges women, especially larger women, face in dealing with constant judgement and body shaming.

Mukissa expressed her frustration in the post, writing:

I didn’t know it was illegal to have big boobs and a big ass! I’m found guilty. It’s time to lock me up and throw away the key! Why is there so much fat shaming, body judging and making women feel bad about themselves? You guys are really looking for new ways to put us down and try to make us hate ourselves. It’s exhausting trying to like ourselves and fit into the fitness diet culture.

Martha Mukisa responded to those who incite body shaming online:

Banange people on the internet, what you say about women’s bodies, nedda, enough is enough. This is not the Uganda I grew up in, where I felt safe and confident. We were taught from a young age to see ourselves as a force, to be free from fear. Now, what is this? Mwe abesesa nemweyogeza, what have you done to girls?

Mukisa made it clear that her figure is natural and not something she deliberately chose to attract attention:

FYI, I am like this. I don’t mean to be. I was making music and making money while you were convinced you were making me miserable. Big boobs are not public property. Focus more on what I share and playing music. As a flower, I will bloom. I am focused on changing the narrative; don’t let my light dim.
