French President Emmanuel Macron spoke with Iranian President Pezeshkian on the phone to discuss the situation in the Middle East.

The Iranian president stressed that Tehran reserves the right to respond to Israel’s recent attacks. Pezeshkian also criticized the passive behavior of the United States and the West after the attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus and the assassination of Hamas political leaders.
“Iran considers the desire to avoid war and establish peace and security as one of its main principles, but will never remain silent in the face of violations of its national interests,” President Pezeshkian said.
Macron stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomatic efforts to stabilize the situation in the Middle East and stressed France’s willingness to promote a peaceful solution in the region.
