Jamaica Independence Day – Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce

The day’s celebrations include a grand parade in Kingston, showcasing the bright colors of the country, cultural performances showcasing reggae and traditional dances, and the Jamaican Independence Festival, including competitions and concerts. Communities across the island come together for local festivals filled with traditional food, arts and crafts, and fireworks light up the night sky. Celebrations usually begin with Emancipation Day on August 1, leading to a week of cultural pride known as “Liberation Day.”
