Horrible accident in Monoganisay
Five people were killed and several others injured, some seriously, in a traffic accident in Mont-Organisé, northeast of the city, on Monday, August 5, 2024. The cause of the accident is unknown. The victims were members of the Cœurs-Unis choir of the Saint-Joseph Cathedral in Fort-Liberté.

The Third Government Council
On Monday, August 5, 2024, Prime Minister Gary Cornelli chaired the third government meeting at the Musso Residence (Delmas 60). The main items on the agenda were: implementation of the transition roadmap, the government’s communication strategy, budget preparation, the start of the new school year, postponement of the tax law, etc.

CEP: Protestant Union split
The Haitian Protestant Union does not intend to change its decision to choose Rev. Peterson Pierre Louis to represent the Reformed denomination at the Provisional Electoral Council. Haiti’s diplomatic reform
On Monday, August 5, 2024, Foreign Minister Dominique Dupuy submitted for adoption by the Council of Ministers the legal instruments related to Haiti’s diplomatic reform:
– Order on Haitian diplomatic reform;
– Decree establishing the Order of Arts and Letters;
– Preliminary draft decree on the organization and functioning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
– Order on the establishment, organization and functioning of the Jean Pres Mars Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
– A preliminary draft of a decree defining the diplomatic and consular professions;
– Draft decree on the issuance and use of diplomatic and service passports.

50 community restaurants restocked
Thanks to the support of Taiwan (Republic of China), the Economic and Social Assistance Foundation (FAES) provided assistance to 50 community restaurants in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area. The restaurants received a total of 40 bags of rice, 10 bags of beans, 10 boxes of salmon and 6 23-liter cans of oil.
