Expectations are high, questions are many. If they responded positively to the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad, the nearly 250 participants of the forum dedicated to them, held on August 6-7 at the Diplomatic Academy, also expressed a desire shared by the Ministry: to break with the traditional conferences that are now outdated. Minister Nabil Amar set the tone, inviting Tunisian technicians abroad to invent appropriate concepts that promote their commitment, solidarity and participation in Tunisia’s new approach.
After the opening session, four thematic working groups will work on key issues. These are, in order, participation in decision-making and communicating Tunisia’s path abroad, promotion of foreign investment and innovation in scientific research. More specifically, in this area, encouraging international cooperation between academic institutions.
The second set of issues concerns strengthening the presence of Tunisian skills in regional and international organizations, as well as in local and regional authorities and elected institutions in the countries of residence. This is also the contribution of Tunisians abroad to national development and to enriching national innovation and artificial intelligence projects through the transfer of skills and qualifications.
They also reflected together on the governance of brain migration and the next session, frequency and related activities of this forum.
The third working group will focus on strengthening the identity and cultural foundations of the new generation, revising financial policy legislation and public debt management governance. A success story presentation is also planned. Participants will also have to address the issue of bridging the gap between academic research and industrial innovation needs.
Mechanisms should be proposed for monitoring and implementing the various recommendations made by the Forum.
