The representative of the organization also indicated that, according to INS 2023 data, in the field of primary medicine, most family medicine clinics operate in urban areas, namely 6,200 clinics, while there are 4,100 clinics in rural areas. The number of family doctor offices in rural areas is 1.4 times that of urban family doctor offices. In addition, according to the Ministry of Labor and Social Solidarity, 320 of the 2,862 rural areas do not have a family doctor, and 34.7% of adolescent girls under 15 years old do not benefit from medical control during pregnancy, which is twice the rate of the same period last year. With the support of local experts (family doctors, social workers, health mediators), the Romanian Save the Children team has created a network of social inclusion and poverty alleviation since 2010 by providing integrated services (medical, social, educational) at the local level, thus helping to increase access to sustainable and quality services for mothers, pregnant women, pregnant minors and children under 5 years old. So far, Save the Children Romania has been working in 20 counties, 70 poor rural communities, serving 100,000 mothers, pregnant women and children under 5 years old.
