Four days have passed since the arrest of Jordan Cifuentes, mayor of Mejía, in the state of Sucre, and lawyers are still unaware of the charges against him and his health status.

Two nights ago, a prayer chain was held in the city of Mejía, demanding the release of Jordan Sifuentes, the only opposition mayor of the state of Sucre, who was arrested last Friday by members of the governorate on the national road between Sucre and Anzoátegui. », reports via X.
“We understand that the lawyers do not have access to him and they are not aware of his status, health or the charges against him.”
He added that residents were very upset and were convinced that Cifuentes had performed well as a public official.
On August 4, the Vice President, chaired by José Gregorio Noriega, demanded in a meeting statement Release Sifuentes immediately.
“Given the recent arrest of Mayor Jordan Sifuentes, who was elected by our party ticket for Vice President with over 70% of popular support, we express our deep concern to respect due process and help his fundamental rights as a citizen”.
