Koror, Palau – The community is in mourning over the death of 29-year-old Costner Desbedall Tellei, who went missing on July 31, 2024. The Palau Public Security Bureau (BPS) confirmed that Costner Tellei has been found dead.
Costner Desbedall Tellei was last seen in the area of the Belau National Hospital at around 11:00 am on July 31, 2024. His disappearance attracted widespread attention and the community began a full-scale search. Flyers were distributed on social media and various media platforms to help find him.
In a recent email dated August 2, 2024, BPS management thanked the public for their help and requested that all missing persons flyers be removed to prevent further suffering for Tellei’s family. Authorities have not disclosed the circumstances of his death or provided details about when and how he died. Witnesses reported that the deceased was found floating near T-Dock.
According to Public Security Bureau Public Information Officer Favian Ngiramengior, the BPS is currently awaiting a report from the Belau National Hospital to determine the cause of death. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is also conducting a thorough investigation. Once these reports are received, they will be sent to the Attorney General’s Office, which will determine if foul play was involved or rule it out.
