He made the remarks at a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne on Tuesday, May 30.
President Yabou congratulated Morocco on witnessing the 25th anniversary of the King’s accession to the throne.
“I am pleased to emphasize that there are long-standing friendly relations and close people-to-people exchanges between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of The Gambia,” he said.
“Just earlier this year, the two countries signed 11 agreements at a joint bilateral meeting in Dhaka covering trade, tourism, defense, military, education, security, etc.”
“These cooperation agreements are one of the tools to foster bilateral and people-to-people relations between the two countries,” he added.
At the multilateral level, our two countries have much in common and continue to engage, cooperate and collaborate on a range of global issues.”
“Recalling that The Gambia hosted the 15th OIC Summit in Banjul last May, I would like to take this opportunity to express to His Excellency President Barrow and the entire Government and people of The Gambia the highest appreciation and gratitude to King Mohammed VI. May Allah assist him for his unwavering and invaluable support to the Republic of The Gambia and its friends at this historic moment.”
He further stated that The Gambia, through the Government of His Excellency Adama Barrow, appreciates the excellent brotherly relations that exist between our two countries and highly appreciates the Kingdom’s contribution to our human capital development and other development efforts.
“Allow me to reiterate Gambia’s commitment to elevate this relationship to greater heights and pray that Almighty God will continue to bless His Majesty King Mohammed VI with good health, longevity and personal well-being and for the continued progress and prosperity of the Kingdom of Morocco.”
“As a nation, we thank His Majesty the King and all the people of the Kingdom of Morocco for their support and continued cooperation.”
