Suhail Diab, a writer and political analyst, said in an analysis conducted by CNN in cooperation with the US Institute for the Study of War that although nearly half of the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, have rebuilt some of their combat capabilities, more than nine months have passed since Israel attacked the stretch Gaza.

Diab saidBanner) This report has an additional shock to Israeli society, explaining that it has caused many discussions on Hebrew channels. This shows that an Israeli military spokesman said more than a month ago that “Hamas is an idea and we cannot eliminate this idea.”

After making these remarks, the Israeli army spokesman was fiercely attacked by many right-wing politicians and settlers.

Diab added: “This report is putting dots on letters, which means that the main goal of Israel’s ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip cannot be achieved at all.”

He continued: “So, in my opinion, this confirms that most of Netanyahu’s policies, one of the pillars, to achieve the high-level goals of this aggression has completely collapsed with the recognition of the United States and the approval of the official spokesperson of the Israeli army.”

Nevertheless, the political analyst ruled out that the report would influence Israel’s decision, adding: “But it will influence discussions within the Israeli military establishment, especially between it and the political side.”

He expects the discussions to deepen the rift between Israel’s military and political institutions to a greater extent than before October 7.

Diab believes that Israel’s core tendency to prolong the Gaza war is simply due to Netanyahu’s concerns about his political and personal future, which shows that Israel’s biggest goal is to resolve the Palestinian issue.

“Kassam Ability”

An analysis published by CNN in cooperation with the US Institute for the Study of War quoted US military experts as saying that Israel’s war style, characterized by heavy bombing and lack of post-war planning, helped inspire Israel’s military actions and the resurgence of the Hamas movement.

A senior Israeli military officer told the network that wherever Hamas raises its head, the army will move in, but he doubts whether this game can last forever.

A retired senior Israeli military officer said the movement began recruiting three or four months ago and has recruited thousands of people, noting that the biggest difficulty facing Hamas is not at the level of fighters but at the level of leaders, some of whom are not easy to replace.

CNN also said that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s remarks about victory over Hamas were contradicted by facts on the ground, including analysis of ongoing military operations, photos taken, and interviews with experts and witnesses.

The New York Times quoted analysts as saying that recent attacks on Hamas, including the assassination of its political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in the capital, Tehran, may be a short-term setback for the movement, but not enough to prevent it from becoming healthy and perhaps more politically extreme and powerful again.

Analysts and regional observers who have engaged with Hamas leaders believe the setbacks suffered by the movement have brought short-term victories to Israel but not long-term strategic success.
