Dam Press:
Rustom Makiya, director of the Damascus University Children’s Hospital, revealed that a specific project is currently being implemented, which has received government approval and the necessary approvals from higher education institutions, which will provide accommodation rooms for companions of patients on three floors, equipped with some beds and their supplies, especially for cases that require a long stay of the child in the hospital, pointing out that in addition to the rest area allocated in coordination with the Damascus governorate, attention will also be paid to the service aspect.
Makiya confirmed that the hospital receives dozens of patients every day, with the number varying depending on the situation at the time, whether it is a case of “cold or pancakes”, which reaches 100 cases a day, or cases caused by diarrhea or gastrointestinal diseases, so daily services are provided free of charge around the clock.
While the incubator in the private sector costs more than 1 million liras per day, Makiya said the cost of the private sector in the hospital is only 25,000 liras, while the general department is free for patients, especially since the hospital includes 70 incubators, not to mention the cost of examinations, follow-ups and medicines, indicating that all medicines and consultation examinations in the hospital are free.
