Red watermelon is considered one of the delicious summer products that many people consume in large quantities, but there are some diseases that may limit or prevent lovers of this fruit from consuming it.

Dr. Natalia Yefimochkina, deputy director of the Federal Research Center for Nutrition and Biotechnology, noted that some people should be careful about eating red watermelon, especially those with diabetes and digestive diseases.

“We are talking about people with some kind of chronic digestive disease, as well as diabetes and kidney failure,” she said. Of course, it’s not just red watermelon, because in the case of these diseases, the patient has to follow a special diet prescribed by a doctor, so the doctor may allow the patient to take a specific amount.

She added: “A person can eat 700-800 grams of red watermelon during the day, but he must know that this product, although it has few calories, has a high proportion of carbohydrates and a low proportion of dietary fiber, since it contains mainly water”.

She noted that red watermelon is more like a dessert or snack, so excessive consumption is not recommended.
