The copper mine “KAZ Minerals Aktogay” in the Abai region has been operating successfully for 25 years. The open-pit mine processes more than 50 million tons of sulfide ore per year. Both plants in Aktogay are fully automated. In addition, there is an integrated plant that has been producing high-quality copper for 10 years.
Copper ore is mined here. The company operates in two directions, called oxide and sulphide. All equipment here is automated. The latest drones, scanners and ground-penetrating radars are used. A major focus is on worker safety.

– Other service work. Geology, surveying and geotechnical engineering. Modern technologies are also used here. The main goal is safety. Many systems are used for this purpose.
The ore is first ground. Then it is transported to the warehouse by conveyor. Then, it is crushed and processed with the help of special equipment.
Gani Sovetov, Head of Production:
– The ore after the mill is floated. The product obtained is considered the final concentrate. The product contains 25% copper. The concentrate is further sent to metallurgical enterprises. Currently, the output is between 3000 and 4000 tons. Our mill is 40 feet long and half-milled. All our equipment is of high quality. We work exclusively with foreign companies.
This is an oxide factory. Chemical compounds are mixed with the ore produced here, turning it into liquid.
Dauren Baizhigitov, Head of Oxide Ore Beneficiation Services:
– This is the largest production facility in Kazakhstan. Annual production capacity – 25,000 tons. In our factory, no material is left, everything is processed. With the help of modern technologies, we get 99% pure copper.
There are more than a hundred machines working in the quarry. Their condition is monitored in a special workshop. The trucks are inspected and regularly checked by experienced specialists.
Anuar Zhumabayev, head of service and repair shop:
– First of all, we pay attention to the safety of the workshop. For this purpose, necessary equipment, technology and devices are available. All work is carried out in accordance with international standards. Therefore, quality products are produced.
The mine “KAZ Minerals Aktogay” employs about 3,500 people. All finished products are exported from here. Thus, the mining and processing plant makes a significant contribution to the development of the country’s economy.
