WestProp launches state-of-the-art condominium

By Business Reporter – Leading the way Westprop Holdings is launching the first batch of apartments north of Harare Drive in its $4 billion Pomona City, dubbed a “city within a city” as it combines residential, commercial and entertainment, creating a micro-city within its ecosystem.

The apartments are part of a gated estate that is themed around live, work, shop and play, and also includes a shopping mall, school, church, recreational facilities, office buildings and mixed-use towers.

The 24 walk-up buildings, with a total of 384 apartments, began construction this year and are a “deliberate response to the problem of middle-income housing.”

The four-storey apartment complex will be built in phases 1, B and C. The apartments will have one and two-bedroom units, with some also being convertible to three-bedroom units if required.

Westprop Holdings chief executive Sir Ken Sharpe was optimistic about the upcoming development, describing it as “game-changing in terms of providing accommodation and helping to reduce the housing backlog”.

“We have listened to the market and understand what it wants. We will continue to build apartments in the city of Pomona to meet the growing demand for housing,” he said.
“There will be a lot of activity in Pomona. Soon, people who bought the 1A units will start building their homes, and people who bought the 1B and C units will have already started building their homes,” Mr. Sharp said.

The off-site services required for the apartment site are already in place and the first phase of road construction is underway.

The Chief Project Officer, Mr. Mandla Ndebele, had earlier said that Pomona City would become “the best place to live and enjoy street driving” due to the asphalt road being constructed.

The City of Pomona is a gated community that provides residents with a secure and private environment that sets them apart from their neighbors.

Chief Operating Officer Tatiana Ellis said Pomona stands out from other developments because it has its own urban plan, including roads, public spaces and utilities, which further consolidates its status as a “city within a city.”

Critical infrastructure such as Pomona’s $630,000 multi-purpose gatehouse is already operational, along with stormwater sewers and water reticulation.

This lifestyle community development combines technology, communal living spaces and unique social amenities that set the estate apart from traditional suburban designs.

Social amenities are reserved for owner use only to preserve privacy and maintain value.
