Landslide in China causes death

A mountain torrent and mudslide occurred in Kangding City, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, killing at least 10 people and leaving 17 missing.

The natural disaster occurred in the early morning of August 3. The mudslide destroyed a bridge and blocked two highway tunnels. Houses in Zhidi Village were also damaged.

The agency pointed out that when the bridge collapsed, four cars carrying 11 people were swept away by the mudslide. Among them, three people were declared dead, one was rescued, and the remaining seven were missing. Seven people were killed and 10 were missing in Zhidi City.

The search and rescue work in the disaster area is still going on, but due to the high mountain conditions, the implementation of the search and rescue work is very complicated. Drones are used in the search operation.
