Rescue teams were called in earlier this evening after a tourist was injured on Mount Baru in Borgarfjörður.
This was confirmed by Jón Þór Víglundsson in an interview with the news agency.
According to him, the Western police requested helicopter assistance. Joel said a tourist was injured on the mountainside, possibly with a broken bone.
“The first forces are arriving on the scene through these verbal channels,” he added.
The rescue team had enough work to do for the night. At around half past ten, all the troops west of Þjórsár were called in, as tourists had locked themselves in a cave in Kerlingafjölls:
