The TAAMO card is a transportation system that allows GTSC customers to easily pay their fares using a secure and user-friendly electronic card, eliminating the need for cash transactions.

Enable passengers to enjoy the convenience of cashless transportation services.

The GTSC chairman likened the TAAMO card launched on Wednesday to a replica of the UK’s Oyster card and said the TAAMO card is much more advanced than London’s Oyster card transport system.

“No country can develop without effective ground transportation. If you have studied basic history in high school, you will know that the Savannah region is more developed than the rainforest region because of the transportation. Europe developed only because their strategy was to ensure that they had strong and effective ground transportation, which is a prerequisite for the development of any country; and the GTSC is designed to achieve this,” he said.

Mr Malang also gave details of the National Development Plan (NDP3) and agricultural modernisation, explaining that this is to operate and maintain buses to help transport agricultural products within the country and abroad.

He also disclosed the ownership of GTSC, saying it is a private company managed by the Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation (SSHFC).

Mr Malang said the agency and other agencies under SSHFC played an important role in national development by providing employment opportunities, delivering first-class services and contributing to the development of The Gambia.

He expressed his gratitude to Muhammed Jah of TK Motors and Experts Motors for their sponsorship and the successful implementation of the GTSC TAMMO project. He also thanked the Government of The Gambia for its separate donation of 70 buses to GTSC through a public-private partnership and the successful implementation of the TAAMO card project.
