They reached the Olympic quarterfinals
Kyrgyzstan’s Zoraman Shashenbekov and Merim Dzhumanazarova made a winning start to their Paris Olympics, reaching the quarterfinals.
Shashenbekov competed in the Greco-Roman wrestling championship in the weight category up to 60 kg. He started at the quarter-final stage against Aidos Sultangari from Kazakhstan. The Kyrgyz team won and advanced to the quarter-finals.
Shashenbekov’s next opponent will be the winner of the match between Enes Bashar (Turkey) and Razvan Arnot (Romania).
Meerim Zhumanazarova also started the 1/8 finals of the 68 kg freestyle wrestling championship. Her opponent was Delgermaa Enkhsaikhan from Mongolia. Zhumanazarova defeated her and advanced to the quarter-finals.
She will face Japanese player Nonoka Ozaki in the quarterfinals.
